Thoroughly Modern Millie

She loved to wear hats. She wore them as often as life allowed. She wore a white, large brimmed floppy hat in San Tropez; In Paris she not only wore a bright red beret, but also a miniature top hat while taking in a burlesque show at the Moulin Rouge. She knew every Haberdasher in London and purchased a new cloche on every visit to the city. There was the winter on the Isle of Skye when she wore a purple balmoral bonnet and the summer in Chili when she wore a horseman's straw hat. She liked hats with feathers, peacocks being her most favorite. She even wore a well-worn leather cowboy hat while on a cattle ranch in Australia, having obtained it from an old lover who hunted wild boar during full moon nights. Each of her hats marked a milestone in her life, reminded her of a lover or took her back to an adventure from long ago. Friends and relationships would come and go, but her hats stayed with her forever. She loved to wear hats.

Ah, I love my black bob wig! I feel transported in time when I wear it. I feel like Louise Brooks. I was super rushed for time so I didn't have much time for composition or a series. And I so wish I did because the morning light was fantastic. Oh well...the bob will show up again in the future! :)

And, I had grand plans to take a picture of my drawing a name out of the hat for the Blog Giveaway Winner but I ran out of time so I used a number generator instead and the lucky winner is...Nichole! Congrats Nichole! You are the winner of my first blog giveaway! Shoot me a flickr mail with your address so I can send it out to you! And, those that didn't win this time, be sure to check back next month for February's giveaway!

After I saw this on FB I had to run right over here to tell you how much I love, love, love this portrait! It's genius the way you matched the red of your lips and the blue of your eyes with the red and blue in the hat. It makes such a nice curve that is then reflected in the curves of the wig. Beautiful bokeh too. Awesome job!
